Titus John Monterde also known as TJ Monterde is a Filipino songwriter and singer who is now currently making a name in the music industry. TJ was once a host of tele-magazine show in Northern Mindanao, the Mag TV na! Ato ni!. In that, TJ started exposing his good looks and his skills as a host. He studied Bachelor of Science in Developmental Communication in Xavier University in Cagayan de Oro and he is pursuing his singing career in Manila when he resigned as a host of the aforementioned tele-magazine show.

Singing is his passion. That’s what people see for he took risk of resigning as a host on the tele-magazine show. TJ’s song “Ikaw at Ako” was first heard on the same show and on an interview via Skype by Mag TV na! he undertake the story of the song that the persons who hear the song are his family only and now the whole nation is listening it now. On the 1^st ever Barangay Gwapo, TJ sang the song saying that it was his “last performance” but for his fans, it was his last performance in that stage for a bigger stage is waiting for him. The song’s Official Video is now available for the vast audience to watch and listen nytime. (Beware of LSS)

On the other hand, TJ had already seize another music media, the Twitmusic and now listeners all over the world already commended his voice.

Adele Emeli Sandé or known in her middle name, Emeli Sandé is a Scottish recording artist and actually, she was a songwriter. She was known by the public by when she featured in the “Diamond Ring” of the rapper Chipmunk which then their first top 10 single in UK Single Charts. She was also commended by Simon Cowell as “his favorite songwriter at the minute”. Emeli wrote songs by some the best artist such as Parade, Susan Boyle, Cher Llyod, Leona Lewis, Cheyl Cole and many more.

August last year, she released her first solo single “Heaven”. Her album “Our Vision of Events” reached at number one in UK after it was released in February 2012.

Emeli studied Medicine at the University of Glasgow and at her fourth year, she stopped. Her sister recorded her a video when she was young while playing the piano and was sent to the BBC’ Urban Music competition and won the first prize and she was offered a recording deal but management was against the deal. Moreover, her singing career started when she appeared on the “Diamond Ring” of the Chipmunks. During the success of her career, Adele was also doing its thing and change her screen name to her middle name because of Adele’s mounting success.

She was named as the Brit Awards Critics Choice for 2012 on December 2011. She was also the winner of the American Express Innovation Award. Emeli sad that her songs was about world peace and political issues. In addition, she said that the key to a good song is using honesty and raw emotion.

Edward Christopher Sheeran or commonly known as “Ed Sheeran” is an English songwriter, singer and who would have thought, he is also a producer, a rapper and a beatboxer. His first single “The A Team” debuted at number three in the UK Singles chart. His debut album “±” has been a certified QUADRUPLE PLATINUM in United Kingdom by the British Phonographic Industry. This year, he won the BRIT Awards for Best British Male Solo Artist and British Breakthrough of the Year. Moreover, his single “The A Team” won as the Best Song Musically and Lyrically in the Ivor Novello Award.

Ed Sheeran started learning to play guitar at a very young age. He then started recording in 2005 which led to his first EP, the Orange Room EP. EP (Extended Play) is a musical recording that contains more music than a single (Wikipedia). In 2006, he released a self-titled album and Want Some? in 2007. And for your information, in 2009, he had played almost 312 gigs. On the same year, he again released another EP which is the “You Need Me”.

February 2010, he has posted a video in SB.TV which then led him to the rapper “Example asking Sheeran to tour with him”. On the same year, in April, Sheeran went to Los Angeles and played all over the city and he was spotted by Jamie Foxx of The Foxxhole. Jamie was so impressed by Ed Sheeran’s talent and offered him to use his recording studio. Through the year, he was seen by people over the internet via Youtube and his fans grew larger and larger.

His single, “The A Team” peaked at number 3 in the UK Singles Chart selling over 58,000 copies for the first week. The single was also a top ten hit in some countries such as Luxmeburg, Japan, Australia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Ireland, Norway and Germany. His debut album “±” which was released last year in September was number one in UK Charts and became the ‘second best selling album and the ninth biggest selling album of 2011 in UK’.

Last November 2011, another soul ballad song was released which is the “Lego House”. “Lego House” reached top ten in New Zealand Single Charts, Scottish, Australia and Irish. In addition, Stooshe also recorded an acoustic cover of this song because of its popularity all over UK. This year, he performed at the closing ceremony of London Olympic Games 2012 with the cover of Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here”.

His “The A Team” as stated by Louise Willot was inspired by a woman who he met and told him her story. The woman’s name was Angel who is living in a homeless shelter known as “Crisis” in London in which Ed Sheeran was a volunteer.

An English R&B girl group which is composed of Alexandra Buggs, Courtney Rumbold and Karis Anderson. The group was originated from London, England and has genres of R&B, pop, soul and hip-hop.

The group was created on May 2010 and has recording contract last August 2011 to Warner Music Group. The writer/manager Jo Perry put the members and created Stooshe after a series of auditions. Luckily, Alexandra, Karis and Courtney were the successful auditionees. Karis Anderson exposed that their band name originated from the urban word “Stoosh” which means ”describes something ‘expensive’”

The group released their first single, “Betty Woz Gone” in October 2011 and it was then announced that Stooshe was nominated for BBC’s Sound of 2012 poll on the 5^th of December in the same year. Stooshe garnered another achievement after they release their next single, “Love Me” featuring the American rapper Travie McCoy on YouTube on March 14, 2011 and the video went viral and soon called as “an internet hit”. Moreover, ”Love Me” peaked number 5 on the UK Single Charts.

Alexandra Buggs

The group recorded another video, the “Hot Stepper” which is a cover of the 1994 hit “Here Comes the Hot Stepper” by Ini Kamoze. The video has the appearance of Adele and Bruno Mars. In addition, Stooshe’s album, Stooshe sold 37, 789 copies and still counting.

Stooshe was also nominated in Rising Stars of 2012 and the aforementioned Sounds of 2012.

Stooshe released their second single, “Black Heart” last June 17 this year. “Black Heart” peaked to the Top 3 on UK chart. The music video was now becoming viral on social media site. In lieu to that, the group also recorded an acappella version of the song and also an acoustic version.

After hearing the song, “Last Song Syndrom” or LSS would probably dominate listeners, furthermore, due to its popularity of the video, Stooshe uploaded a video titled “Do The Black Heart Routine”  wherein the girls is teaching the ‘Black Heart” dance.

Alexandra Stephanie Buggs was born on November 1, 1989 (22 years old). She is living with her parents and her four siblings. She joined the group in June 2010.

Courtney Mariah Rumbold is the youngest of the group. She was born on July 11, 1992 (20 years old) and she was the first to join. Courtney is very open that she prefers females.

Karis Lya Anderson, the eldest of the group born on October 17, 1989 with the age of 22. She is currently residing with her father.

A couple of months have passed when American Idol started its hunt all over the America to be the next American Idol and several elimination rounds were performed before the Season 11 Top 13 Finalist were chose and each of them has this “Voice of Excellence” namely:

The Save

The American Idol Season 11 has a lot of memorable moments especially when Jessica Sanchez sang a song that may either eliminate her in the contest orcontinue being in the show. She got the lowest vote so she did her best for that moment of her life but the judges went on the stage and stop Jessica from singing and used their “the save” that can only be used once and luckily, Jessica was still in the show.

The Moment of Truth

            May 24, 2012 was the moment of truth. The regular 1 hour show was a 2 hour that day because of the idol finale. Top 2, Jessica Sanchez and Phillip Phillips, were able to sing with the pillars of the music industry, Phillip sang with Fantasia Barrino (American Idol Season 2) and Jessica Sanchez with Jennifer Holiday. A total of 132 Million votes cast the night before the idol finale and before the show ends, the American Idol Season 11 was announced and it was Phillip Phillips.

The Issue

            Most of the viewers and some of the known artists in the music industry quarreled or should we say “argue” on the American Idol result. One said that American Idol is now a popularity contest and not a talent show. In addition, an American Idol fanatic was interviewed by ABS-CBN and summoned a recount on the votes. As far as I’ve surf twitter, a tweet had captured my attention, “Phillip Phillips was the American Idol but Jessica Sanchez is the Global Idol”. So much for that, I congratulate Phillip Phillips for winning the title as American Idol Season 11 winner, he truly has the voice!

MUSIC has it all.

Hearing a beat from the stereo, especially those with fast tempos makes your body grove to the beat. In addition, when you also hear a soft, mellow and a sad song, you stare in the window and thinks you are in a music video. Sounds funny right? I know,  that’s why music has it all.

A couple of months ago, I’ve been surfing Youtube and watching videos of Adele, Katy Perry and Beyonce and then, a question popped into my mind, “how does this great singers perform very well?”. Yesterday, I read a tweet from E! Online (@eonline) saying  “Beyoncé Named the World's Most Beautiful Woman”.  And made me realize once again music has been so dominant even in the aspect of beauty. This people are very influential, especially Adele who is a very renowned artist and she was included in the most influential artist, as well as Rihanna.

This morning, just read a news from ANC Morning in twitter, “Jessica Sanchez enters the Top 5 of American Idol:)”. Every single day, we hear about music, even the beat of our feet, the whistle and that synchronized tune when we talk. It is indeed, music is everywhere and music has it all.

Adele, won 6 Awards!

Expect the unexpected. You haven't understand why her "Rolling In The Deep" had been a phenomenon in the music industry? Well, is just because, she is Adele!


Unexpectedly, Adele won 6 Grammy awards in the 54th Annual Grammy Awards. She was one of the highlights of the show wearing a beautiful black dress. Indeed that Adele is the new music sensation.


Adele was one of the big winners. She won the Album of the Year,  Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Album, Best Short Form Music Video and Best Pop Solo Performance. She took home the 6 trophies with prestige.


Adele Laurie Blue Adkins also known as Adele grow up in Tottenham, North England on 1988. Believe it or not, the 23 year old girl's inspiration is the Spice Girls! She became a star when her friend posted her videos last 2006 in MySpace and her journey to stardom  began that year. Her "divine voice", as they call it, makes her an international singer and a living legend.


We haven't seen the last of Adele so we better prepare for millions of awards.

R.I.P. Whitney

2012 bang the news about Whitney Houston’s death. A remarkable woman had ended up her mission here in the world.

Some of the known artists in Hollywood were very sad about the news. The singer, Mariah Carey, expressed her sympathy via twitter where in she changed her profile picture with Whitney holding their hands so tight.

Also the international singer, Rihanna, tweeted “No Words, Just Tears”. 

Mean while, in the social networking site, twitter, best songs of Whitney were trending topics in the Philippines and today, the hashtag #WhitneyHouston is a trending topic around the nation. Here in the Philippines, the singers of the biggest networks gave tribute to the international legend during ASAP and Party Pilipinas. It is indeed that Whitney had changed the life of many people through her music.

                Whitney Houston is an inspiration of the best artist of the world. Her song “Try It on My Own” is one of my favorite. It talks about something you want to do, and many people are there beside you just to put you down but you did your best to be on top. Well, we are all human and we all die.

                Houston died at the age of 48. She left the world at the eve of the 54 Annual Grammy Awards. A remarkable woman and an inspiration of many. May she rest in peace.

Astro, rising UP!

             One of the best (and awesome) contestants of the X-Factor had truly proved that he got the X-Factor even if he didn’t win. Well, its mentor, L.A. Reid believes that he has a place in the music industry, but not only L.A. Reid believes that Astro should have a place but also his fans who believe in him that he got the talent.

                 

            His collaboration with the X-Factor Fourth place winner for the year 2010, Cher Lloyd, made him RISE UP TO THE TOP.  Their song, Want U Back that was uploaded a week  ago hit 3, 628, 601 views (as of 1/19/2011, 11:23 AM) and it was a roar for the kid.

                 

              As a young rapper, Astro prove to the human race that age really doesn’t matter in showcasing what he got. Some Astro fans are waiting for the Rihanna-Asto collaboration. Remembering the day when he told Rihanna, “we will have a collab…..” make his fans excited.

Oh My Baby (the birth of Blue Ivy)

January 07, 2012 was a very remarkable day in the music scene. The diva, Beyoncé Knowles, gave birth in New York City a baby girl which they named Blue Ivy.

                Unexpectedly, the birth of Blue Ivy was confirmed by Rihanna on her tweet “Welcome to the world princess Carte! Love Aunty Rih.”

                Blue Ivy arrived via a C-Section and the curiosity of fans of the two most respected artists in the music industry questioned why was the baby’s name is “Blue Ivy”. Questions such as those pooped up in some of the social networking sites like a flash of lighting. Well, the “Ivy” means “4” or in the Roman Numeral “IV” which means very significant in the life of Beyoncé. First and foremost, 4 means her birthday September 4 and Jay-Z, December 4 and the most remarkable occasion of the couple, their wedding anniversary which is April 4, 2008 which I though 4/4/8 or 4+4 = 8. And the title of her latest album  “4”.

                Basically, when a woman gives birth, friends, colleagues, relatives and especially the family are there to visit and to support. Being also an ordinary person, Beyoncé’s family was there. Beyoncé’s sister, Solange, and her parents, Tina and Mathew Knowles was spotted at the hospital with flowers and also with pink balloons.

                Beyoncé, a diva, you would expect her to spend a lot of money just to secure when she deliver her baby and also to give an Imeldific birth to Blue Ivy. As Yahoo! said “The couple reportedly shelled out a whopping 1.3 Million dollar to take over a swanky, newly renovated suite (and according to some reporters, an entire floor) at Manhattan’s Lenox Hill in the Upper East Side”. The hospital staffs also were forced to turn of their cell phone especially those who have cameras “to avoid unauthorized picture snapping” (Yahoo!) and recording of videos. To be secure, the lenses of the security camera were covered with a tape for protection.

                The year 2012 is a very momentous year for them and hope for the years to come. Congratulations Beyoncé and Jay-Z and welcome to the world of music baby Carter!  

The Rhythm

     It is always my dream to become a singer and to dominate the stage and also to be spotted by the lime light but sad to say, I don’t know how to sing but I definitely love music. It was my first love, to sing and secondly is to dance and then I develop the passion in writing because of reading novels. Actually, without being bias, people tend to show their greatness when they hear me singing in front of them but for me, I believe I don’t have that talent. I can’t even reach the highest pitch or to sang the song of Beyonce Knowles’ Listen or Whitney Houston’s Try It on my Own but then, I still love to sing. So much for that, before I decided what to make this blog, I decided to be a music blogger since I merely love music at all, you can see me singing one of my favorite songs over and over again. My close friends told me that every time there’s a new music, I’m always updated, UPDATED as in UPDATED because before that music is being forecast on the radios and other local TV shows here in the Philippines (Philippines is always late in terms of music) I already memorize the song. Of course, I’m still updated with the latest moves. It’s one of my hobbies, to dance. Dancing is the most enjoyable exercise ever! 

     Since we are talking about music, this article of mine is also about music and the persons behind those Top songs in iTunes if you know what I mean. Music is divided into many genres in many different ways but the most common genres are the POP, R&B, ROCK, ACOUSTIC and HIP-HOP music. Now these 5 genres are the most common and often used by many artists in today’s generation. And this defines the 5.

POP- its term is originally derived form the word “popular” it is “usually understood as the commercially recorded music”. This type of genre is being oriented by the youth since this are the most listened type of music and this are simple songs that utilizes technological innovations to produce another new type of present themes.

R&B- commonly known as the “rhythm and blues”. Actually, when I was young, I call this as the RNB which I actually thought correct but the big thing is, until today, R&B is still called as RNB. This R&B is a type of music of popular African American songs.

ROCK- Rock is typically played by electric guitars. It is a genre of popular music that was develops during and after the 1960s which has roots in the year of 1940s and 1950s. This genre is being influenced by the rhythm and blues and country music.

ACOUSTIC- is now one of the most and often heard by the radio. Some artist which uses these genres revives old or new songs into the most solemn type which is acoustic. Commonly, rock and pop songs are the music usually revives by an artist. It comprises music that solely or primarily uses instruments like guitars which produce sound through entirely acoustic means.
 

HIP-HOP- also named as rap music or hip-hop music is a type of musical genre that consists rhythmic music and melody and accompanies rapping. Hip-hop is the most wonderful music since it requires rhythm and tuning and of course proper uses of words which sounds the same. The best example that suits to this is poetry or poems. It has merely the same type of word or sound that was used.
